You might wonder who you can trust after a security guard steals lottery tickets. A security guard should follow a code of conduct that includes not stealing. However, that didn’t stop a security officer from taking lottery scratchers from a store he was hired to protect. The guard then claimed the money for any winning tickets.
Of course, when the store managers noticed the winning lottery tickets that had not been activated by the store, naturally the first person they ask to help solve the case was the person they thought they could trust the most; the security guard.
Well, it turns out that the security guard deleted the video from the CCTV that showed him taking the tickets. He probably thought he was in the clear. However, a security manager noticed that the video went missing the same day the guard was asked to check the video. The manager was was able to recover the deleted video by simply recovering the video from the computer’s recycle bin. The recovered video showed the security guard taking the lottery cars.
This story illustrates that some guards despite going through background checks may perpetrate crimes against the people and property they are hired to protect. Thus, it is important to have some kind of checks and balances system on security personnel.
