Because of all the recent school shootings, many school districts are debating whether or not to hire armed private security officers. One concern in hiring private security is whether or not the guards are adequately trained to work in school environments. Legislation is one way to ensure properly trained school security personnel.
SB 1099 An Act Concerning School Safety, is one such bill. The bill was passed by the Connecticut Senate and House of Representatives. This bill requires public schools to only hire active or retired peace officers to provide armed security. The Connecticut Governor must now sign the bill in order for it become a CT law.
